ACTIVE SCHOOL FLAG Presentation

(PRIMARY Schools)

Active School Flag (ASF) presentations will take place in FRIARY INFANTS SCHOOL, Dundalk on Tuesday, 10th of October 2017. All schools (new applicants and renewal schools) working towards the flag are advised to attend.

The purpose of the presentation is to:

Advise schools about the ASF application process.

Guide schools through the online application form and the ASF success criteria

Give schools a range of practical ideas about ways that they can strengthen their PE programme and energise the school day

Direct schools to the many supports and resources which are available to them, locally and nationally

A teacher from a local school that recently achieved the ASF will be invited to attend to share their ASF experience with attendees.

New summer courses for primary school teachers are available now on our website. There are courses in the areas of Aistear, Visual Art, Active PE, and Local History. TO book a course please follow the following steps,

1) Click on the courses link at the top of the webpage.

2) Select the course that you would like to book from the list available.

3) Type the name of the person attending the course, and their teaching council number into the box provided and click on Buy Now

4) If you HAVE a Paypal account, please fill in your email address and password, and log into your Paypal account to complete the purchase.

This course will introduce teachers to a specially designed online resource for primary music education. Using a range of free interactive online resources we will look at all areas of the primary school curriculum. Participants will become familiar with the dabbledoomusic.com website and it's technical setup in the classroom, gain confidence with a range of instruments, including the voice and learn how to organise group performance and assess the groups musical progress.

This course is designed to be accessible and engaging for all primary school teachers regardless of prior musical experience.

The course will run over two afternoons;

Tuesday the 17th of May from 4-6pm in the VEC, Chapel St. Dundalk

Tuesday the 24th of May from 4-6pm in the VEC in Chapel ST. Dundalk

Some of the courses are being provided in reply to requests from teachers in relation to specific CPD requiremnts. New for this year is an online payment system.
