This course aims to provide teachers with an opportunity to gain practical legal information about how the law impacts the educational sector in Ireland, in order that they may obtain confidence in their teaching profession. Topics such as Duty of Care, Negligence, Health and Safety, The Right to Education, The Rights of the Child, Child Protection and Data Protection will be explored in the course.

 

Participants will engage in online legal research activities and case study problem-solving tasks as part of this course.

The course will also look at School Self Evaluation with SPHE as the focus subject- evaluating school SPHE plans and policies.

Possible areas of consideration will include; The Stay Safe Programme, RSE, The Walk Tall Programme, Web-wise ( child protection and data protection), the rights of the child, the rights of children with special needs (UNCRC, the constitutional rights of the child).
